If you’re a good person, you probably think of others, and how to be better. And it feels good to be better. It feels good to want to improve: to be more productive, nicer, healthier.
But….does self-evaluation also require that you disapprove, somewhat, of the way you are? If you thought you were good enough, would you need to be better?
So here’s my question — do the good feelings that come from wanting to be better, outweigh the bad feelings of having to find yourself lacking? Do we sometimes fall into a danger zone where we disapprove of ourselves too much?
